It’s a long flight to Almaty (you are almost in China), and then a seven hour journey to the Ily Delta System. This vast and unspoilt delta is home to the current world record catfish, and it is where we have our base camps which are managed by the Kan Tengri ground team.

The camps are top quality, with thatched roofs over the tents to protect from the midday sun. There are separate tents for sleeping, cooking and dining, and a shower tent.

All fishing is guided, with two anglers sharing a boat and a guide.

The prime season is mid May to the end of June, but fishing is still productive into September.
